The Hall of Persekutuan Tiong Hua Johor Bahru recently underwent a comprehensive audio-visual upgrade designed to modernise its event host capabilities. To meet the demanding acoustic and visual requirements of multi-purpose venue operations—ranging from corporate meetings and cultural performances to grand celebrations—system integrator Michael Transportion & Electric Services was tasked with delivering a turnkey AV infrastructure. The project aimed to achieve uniform acoustic coverage, versatile stage monitoring, and seamless signal distribution across the expanse of the hall.

At the core of the main front-of-house (FOH) setup is a flown line array system featuring 12 units of Topp Pro APX 28HA (configured in 6 units per side). This array configuration delivers balanced, high-SPL sound dispersion across the main hall floor while maintaining vocal articulation. To reinforce low-frequency response, 4 units of Topp Pro APX 18SA active subwoofers are strategically positioned along and beneath the stage front, delivering punchy, controlled bass without compromising sightlines or stage aesthetics.

For on-stage monitoring and performer foldback, the setup incorporates flexible floor wedge options including Topp Pro X15A MKII active loudspeakers and IVA SiX-12 12-inch plywood DSP active speakers. Signal management and connectivity are streamlined through a Behringer S16 digital stage box, routing pristine audio over a single cat-5 link between the stage and the control rack.

Wireless vocal performance is anchored by Relacart UR-222S UHF wireless receiver systems, supported by a Relacart R-14S active antenna distribution system to ensure dropout-free RF coverage across the entire stage. Complementing the sound setup, an Art-Net node (CR061S) oversees moving head beam fixtures and stage lighting. Through meticulous planning and execution, Michael Transportion & Electric Services has successfully transformed the Hall of Persekutuan Tiong Hua Johor Bahru into a premier event space.
